Curation/Book Marking Tools (Mostly free)

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Diigo

This is one of the more well-known curation and bookmarking tools. It has an extension you can add to your browser to make curating items really easy. Unfortunately the free version has limits - but at least it will give you a trial of what it can do.

Evernote

This product is designed for note taking and organising as well as managing tasks. You can create notebooks, tag information and annotate. The free version has some limits but will give you a taste of the product.

Referencing Tools (Mostly free)

EndNote

Endnote is not just a citation tool. It provides access to online resources and allows you to curate, annotate and cite/reference your information sources. The free version allows a taste of what EndNote offers. Your University may provide free access to this product.

Mendeley

This is a free reference manager and 'academic social network'. It is a bit more rigorous than websites like Cite this for me as it is aimed at professional researchers as well as students.

Zotero

This is a similar tool to Mendeley but has an (arguably) easier interface. It is a curation and citation tool so you can collect information, organise it and reference/cite the information.

Easy to use Referencing tool which covers a number of different styles. You can search for the item you wish to reference through this website and it will fill in the bibliographic details - be aware, though, it doesn't always find the correct information (See Handy Hint box for a bit of a solution to this problem)

EasyBib

Another referencing tool which has limited free version accessibility. If you are prepared to pay for a package it provides multiple referencing styles and a plagiarism checker.
